  • Sustainable fashion Thursday: Bello & Eco

In the fair trade week in Utrecht, I found Bello & Eco

Their philosophy  is based on promoting goods that are beautiful and durable.

I got my eyes in this elegant, yet casual hat, the fashionable addition to my sustainable-conscious style.

The hat is made from Toquilla straw ( Carloduvica Palmata), a natural fiber known for its reusable properties. The artisans from northern Peru use the fiber to handcraft beautiful accessories while working in good conditions for a fair wage.

Carmen, Bello & Eco owner, sent the hat via the post with a lovely surprise, a mini-bag made with the same fiber. It is flexible, neatly  finished  and promises durability.

  • Rock in Rio Negro with the Amazonia live project

Rock in Rio Negro with the Amazonia live project

Amazonia Live is an initiative of the Rock in Rio Group to build a better world. This project  aims to reforest the Xingu river headwaters while bolstering the local economy. The plan is to plant at least three million trees with seeds provided by the indigenous in the area. You can get engaged in this action via the link #IPLANTED

I planted three trees so I am happy to support reforestation in Amazon.

Amazonia Live will be broadcasted direct from the middle of the forest on the 27th August via Multishow tv-channel and online media. From a floating stage  at the Rio (river) Negro. The Spanish tenor Plàcido Domingo and the Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo will be showcasing, among others.

The line-up for the Rock in Rio 2017 in the City of the Rock will also be revealed. So I will keep you updated. Add a comment to let me know that you too planted a tree there.
