I had an incredible and unforgettable experience playing the drums in the Samba Madeira gig in Houten. It was such a unique opportunity that I never expected to have. The weather was perfect on that bright and sunny Saturday, and I was just doing my weekly shopping when I heard the exciting and vibrant sound of the drums. As a native Brazilian, I was immediately drawn to the music. I started taking photos and talking to a fellow Brazilian who invited me to join in the open gig for beginners. Although I was a bit shy at first, I decided to give it a try. Before I knew it, I was part of the “bateria” crew and having the time of my life with friendly people all around me. It was truly amazing, and I will never forget this unexpected experience.

I had an amazing time this week at an open day for Samba Madeira in Houten. The drummers’ energy and passion were truly infectious, and the loud, rhythmic beat of the drums left an unforgettable impression on me. Playing along with the “bateria” of a samba school and contributing my own rhythm was an overwhelmingly exhilarating experience that I will never forget
