    Upcycling accessories

Oh, what a moment of joy, when my friend and sports masseur Warner Boekhout showed me these accessories made from used bike tires he got from a cycling event.

I always admired the colorful tires when watching the races.  To imagine that these accessories were once part of a racing bike. Who knows where these tires have been rolling, maybe on Le Tour de France. Oh, I’d love it to speak to me over its tire prints. These upcycling accessories are an example of how sustainable fashion can be.

Warner’s passion is cycling. With many victories in pro-cycling classics. He also has a sense of fashion. On this photo from last Christmas, I had to point the inspiration to the Lucas Balboa – fall winter 16/17 collection presented on the Madrid fashion week catwalk.

    Apple sophistication: the statement bag

This statement by Happy Genie combines sophistication with sustainability.

Last Monday I visited Soul Salon fashion trade show in Amsterdam. After my shot of inspiration by fashion magazines, I was up for more of it. So as expected, up front was this glamorous bags made from apples by Happy Genie. It’s luxurious and multi-use. It’s designed by Tanja Schenker in Switzerland and produced in Italy.

Happy Genie is the first to come up with this concept. It has the texture of leather and it’s hand-painted. The front compartment is a clutch bag so this is a two-in-one bag. Genie!!!
